The Big Events

lunar eclipse in virgo // march 3, 2026

This month’s full moon is a lunar eclipse at 12°53’ Virgo, the second eclipse of the season after last month’s solar eclipse in Aquarius. Even though we’ve started the Aquarius/Leo eclipse axis, we’re still in the midst of the Virgo/Pisces eclipses, which began in September 2024. So this Virgo eclipse is part of a story that began in late 2024 and early 2025.

Virgo is a sign that loves details, precision, and purification. Virgo wants things to be neatly organized, both in the physical world and in the mind, due to its elemental earthiness as well as its rulership by Mercury, the planet of thought. Virgo is health conscious and careful, minimalist and particular. Full moons often highlight the tension between the axis, so in this case, its opposite sign of Pisces. Pisces is without boundaries. It’s messy and nuanced and poetic and spiritual. While Virgo is concerned with the minutia of things, Pisces is concerned with the biggest possible picture. So there’s a tension here, with the current focus being on Virgo’s place.

This eclipse is ruled by Mercury, which is currently retrograde in Pisces, pulling focus back to those Pisces topics of spirituality, creativity, and feeling, as well as whatever Pisces rules in your chart. This also emphasizes relationships, as Mercury is in the 7th position from the moon, the position of partnership. Mercury in Pisces and especially retrograde indicates some level of muddiness, confusion, and re-assessment or revision. This Mercury is as debilitated as it can be, which isn’t necessarily bad, but there may be a real request here to let go of the control that Virgo so desperately wants to maintain. It almost feels like the more we try to grip under this eclipse, the more what we want falls through our fingers, like trying to hold onto water or a fistful of wet sand.

The eclipse is also making a lovely sextile to Jupiter in cancer, which offers support, compassion, and grace. Letting go can be scary, giving over to the unknown can be scary, but Jupiter is here to say everything is going to be ok.

New Moon in Pisces // march 18, 2026

This month’s new moon means we’re finally out of eclipse territory for the time being. The new moon in Pisces takes place at 28° Pisces and is the first non-eclipsed moon in Pisces that we’ve had in over a year. There’s something fresh here, though we will have another Pisces eclipse in August.

This new moon is making an exact sextile to Uranus, the planet of disruptions, rebellion, and authentic expression. Uranus can cause a bit of chaos, sudden changes, and revolutionary action. The sextile offers something supportive here. If we’ve been needing to make a change in the Pisces area of our birth chart, this may be a good time to start, and Uranus might be the one to kick it off.

This moon is co-present with mercury retrograde, which makes me think this may be a new moon to feel your way through rather than trying to make lists and plans. Mars indicates some kind of cutting away, aggression, or passion here. Mars’s stinging and inflammatory nature may even be something of a catalyst for whatever this new moon has to bring.

The ruler of this new moon is Jupiter in Cancer, the 5th place from Pisces, indicating themes of children, creativity, pleasure, play, and joy. Jupiter is here to support whatever we’re seeding with this new moon to offer comfort, support, and nourishment.

mercury direct // march 20, 2026

Mercury is finally direct, y’all! But we’re not out of the woods just yet. When Mercury goes retrograde, it revisits the part of the zodiac it was already in. Mercury went retrograde on February 26, but it entered its “shadow” period (the degrees over which it will retrograde) on February 11. Think back to that time. Did you have to revisit anything? Did people from your past come back to visit? Did you have to re-do paperwork, travel, or any kind of communication? Mercury will be out of its shadow on April 9, so we have until then for this story to really complete.

venus & mars become visible

On March 8, Venus becomes visible, followed by Mars on March 12. Mercury also becomes visible on the 15th, but Mercury is in and out of visibility all the time, so its less significant. But Venus and Mars have been under the beams of the sun, doing their dance in the dark for a few months now. However, something is coming to light now. This is fascinating to me considering all that’s come out regarding the Epstein files over the last couple months. The Epstein story feels very Mars & Venus coded, which rule men and women, masculine and feminine, sex and sexuality, consent and lack thereof. In general, Mars & Venus becoming visible brings more awareness and accessibility to matters of love, beauty, and connection as well as aggression, passion, and drive. Things that have been going on behind the scenes may come to light now, or expressions of compassion, love, and beauty as well as expressions of violence, aggression, and passion may become more visible. Venus is in the sign of her exaltation, so this is especially nice for lovely Venus matters and Venusian expression.
